Amidst the quarantine in 2020, I seized the opportunity to pursue my lifelong dream of creating a film, all while spending time with my family. With the help of Final Draft Pro, I was able to craft a concise script, and I meticulously drew a storyboard by hand. With my brothers on board, we brought the story to life in a silent short film.
I applied to 14 different festivals just for fun. I didn’t think my movie was going to be selected by any festivals, but by the end of the year it had been selected to be in four. It was an official selection at The Hollywood First-Time Filmmaker Showcase and New Faces New Voices. It was a semi-finalist in The Scene Festival and received honorable mention at the Santa Monica Film Festival. That was completely unexpected.
Below are materials I used to draft my short film. I learned how to edit and color grade watching YouTube videos. This was my first time editing a video/film. I used Adobe Premiere Pro.
This was also my first time filming. I shot this on my iPhone 12 Plus.
